An 8-month-old girl was scalded Monday afternoon when she pulled a cord dangling from a kitchen counter and tipped over a crock pot, spilling hot liquid on her.
Jade T. Hewitt was flown by Sentara Nightingale helicopter ambulance to Norfolk, police said. She was listed in stable condition Monday night at Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The child, who was in a walker, was burned on her right arm, right leg and her buttocks, said police spokesman Mike Simpkins.
The accident happened about 2:10 p.m. at a babysitter's house in the 2700 block of Burning Tree Lane. The child lives in the same block.
