The Roanoke Island Historical Association, producers of ``The Lost Colony'' outdoor drama in Manteo, has announced a $1 million appropriation for renovation of Waterside Theatre from the North Carolina State General Assembly. The funding was approved as part of the Department of Cultural Resources 1996-1997 fiscal budget and must be matched by the outdoor drama.
The General Assembly's appropriation comes after U.S. Sen. Lauch Faircloth, R-N.C., introduced a matching $1 million line item into the U.S. Department of Interior's 1997 budget. Congress has yet to approve the appropriation. by CNB
