The City Council on Tuesday delayed action on an ordinance that would limit the size and placement of cellular and digital communication towers throughout the city.
The council will consider the ordinance at its Sept. 10 meeting after council members and planning staff meet with industry representatives to iron out some minor changes.
If approved, the ordinance would prohibit communication towers from being built in residential areas. It would also limit the height of such towers to 190 feet. Towers can be taller as long as they are part of an existing building located in an industrially or rurally zoned district.
The ordinance was passed by the Planning Commission 8-1 last week. by CNB
