The City Council took no action Wednesday on whether to spend $30,000 to restore the old CSX train station off North Main Street.
According to council rule, the body doesn't vote on a matter that is being considered on a first reading. If the council approves the funding at its next meeting, it will be the last step in a nearly three-year-long process to refurbish the station, built in 1834.
In June, the city was awarded a Virginia Department of Transportation grant of $240,000.
