Evan Matthew Armstrong, 15, of the 5200 block of Chipping Lane, died Aug. 20, 1996, in his home.
Born in San Diego, Calif., he was a ninth-grade student at Richard Milburn High School, Virginia Beach. He was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God, and a former member of the Royal Rangers and a member of the Wave Youth Band at the church. Evan enjoyed writing music and applying it to a guitar. He had a warm and gentle nature about him and was loved by everyone.
Survivors include his mother, Eva M. Armstrong and father, David Armstrong, both of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Valerie A. Armstrong of Tustin, Calif., and Barbara C. Armstrong of Virginia Beach; a brother, Ryan C. Armstrong of Virginia Beach; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Orton Hoorn of Pico Rivera, Calif.; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. David Armstrong Jr. of Tustin.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Glad Tidings Assembly of God by Pastor Jerry Qualls. Private burial will be at a later date. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, from 7 to 9 p.m. today. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Glad Tidings Assembly of God, c/o Evans M. Armstrong Memorial Fund, 301 S. Newtown Road, Norfolk, Va. 23502.
