L Z PEOPLES

L Z Peoples, 77, was born on Aug. 21, 1919, in Conroe, Texas, and died on Aug. 21, 1996. L Z was a member and Sunday School teacher at Ocean View Presbyterian Church. He was Master Mason, a Shriner, Past Patron of Ocean View Eastern Star (NU)34, a Norfolk Optimist Club member and belonged to Sewells Point and Stumpy Lake Golf Associations. He was a former member of Norfolk Sports Club. He retired after 22 years from the United States Navy as an H.M.C. He also retired from the Norfolk Public School System, where he was a science teacher at Northside Middle School and principal of Sewells Point, Meadowbrook and Chesterfield Heights.

L Z was the son of Z and Nora Peoples. He is survived by his wife, Madeline; a daughter, Carolyn Sands of Norfolk; a son, L Z `` Buddy'' Peoples of Crofton, Md.; two sisters, Nora Beth Mustain of Oklahoma and Mary E. Coats of Texas; one brother, Jerry Peoples of South Carolina; and his beloved grandchildren, Heather and Logan Peoples. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Peoples and a sister, Jimmie Lee Hall.

L Z requested that his body continue to do good after death, and requested it to be donated to medical science at E.V.M.S.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at Calvin Presbyterian Church, 2901 E. Little Creek Road. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Ray Casey Golf Scholarship Fund, c/o Granby High School Alumni Association, P.O. Box 314, Norfolk, Va. 23501.
