Franklin McCrery, 68, of 2341 N.C. 45 North, died Aug. 21, 1996, in Roanoke Chowan Hospital.
Mr. McCrery was a self-employed dairy farmer for 25 years. He was also a general farmer. A native of Holyoke, Colo., he was a member of Colerain United Methodist Church, Colerain. He served on Bertie County Board of Elections for several years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and served in the Philippines.
Survivors include his wife, Almarie Hughes McCrery of the home; a son, Ralph Boone McCrery of Hatteras, N.C.; a sister, Ella Beth McCrery Beasley of Colerain; grandchildren, Robb Hughes McCrery, Shannon Walsha McCrery, Joshua Ralph McCrery, all of Wake Forest, N.C. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Currie McCrery and Louisa McCord McCrery and a daughter, Marguerite McCrery.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. today in Hillcrest Cemetery, Colerain, by the Rev. Laura Early and the Rev. Doris Johnson. Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, is handling arrangements.
