Donald Woodard Dixon, 69, died Thursday, Aug. 22, 1996.
Mr. Dixon, a native of Lumberton, grew up in several towns in eastern North Carolina and Norfolk, Va. After high school he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was in the Pacific Theatre.
He was a career employee of IBM where he worked as an engineer. He worked in Richmond, Va., the Philippine Islands, Roanoke, Va., Boynton Beach, Fla., and Charlotte, retiring after more than 30 years of service.
Surviving are his wife, Jean B. Dixon; sons, Donald ``Woody'' Dixon Jr. of Greenville, N.C., Gary K. Dixon of Athens, Ohio; a daughter, Robyn Bilfelt of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a brother, Joseph Dixon of Chesapeake, Va.; sisters, Carolyn Mahoney and Janice Howell, both of Virginia Beach, Va.; and two grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Pinewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home one hour prior to the funeral. Memorials may be made to the Forsythe Memorial Hospital Oncology Fund, 3333 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27103.
