Jefferson Porter Jr., of the 400 block of Hogart St., died Aug. 20, 1996, in Sentara Norfolk Hospital.
A native of Suffolk, Nansemond County, Mr. Porter was a retired building contractor. He was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, Suffolk and Holland Masonic Lodge (NU)256, Suffolk.
Survivors include a daughter, Joan P. Clarke of Franklin; three sons, Jefferson Porter III of Alexandria, Va., Todd A. Porter Sr., Ray A. Porter of Franklin; a brother, Darnell Porter of Virginia Beach; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Mt. Sinai Baptist Church by the Rev. Joseph Goode. Burial will be in Mt. Sinai Church Cemetery. Remains will be placed in church for viewing at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Wm. M. Johnson and Sons Inc. is handling arrangements.
