The Hampton Roads Partnership has completed its permanent staff.
Partnership president Barry DuVal appointed Donna Morris as director of administration and communication and Nancy Woods as administrative assistant and office manager.
Members of the municipal, military, educational and business communities comprise The Hampton Roads Partnership, a public-private joint venture established this year. The partnership, a 53-member regional group, hopes to establish a strategic agenda to improve the area's port, privatization efforts and economic development opportunities. It's based in Norfolk.
Morris has been affiliated with Old Dominion University's alumni association for the past seven years. She served as an assistant vice president for development, alumni relations director and executive vice president.
Morris also has held various positions at the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, including manager of legislative and urban affairs at the Portsmouth Chamber. She has worked at the Virginia Peninsula Chamber. She joined the partnership Aug. 12.
Woods has worked as secretary to the mayor of Norfolk for the past seven years. She will retire from the city after 25 years in administration and management support. She reports to work Sept. 1.
The partnership will hold an executive committee retreat on Sept. 6 and 7 at the Virginia Beach Resort Hotel and Conference Center to compose a mission statement, list priorities and action items, DuVal said.
A full meeting of the partnership's board of directors is planned for Sept. 20 at Colonial Williamsburg. by CNB
