John Keith Goffigan Sr., 73, of the 200 block of Walnut St., died Aug. 23, 1996, in Maryview Nursing Care Center.
A native of Princess Anne County, he was the son of the late Benjamin Goffigan and Hattie King Goffigan. He served during World War II and retired after 14 years from Blair Brothers Construction as a foreman. He was a former member of Morning Star Baptist Church. Mr. Goffigan spent his early childhood in Washington, D.C., and later in life moved to Hampton and then Suffolk. He was a devoted, loving husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Lillie R. Jones Goffigan; four daughters, Glennis R. Ruffin of Atlanta, Joan K. Mills of Virginia Beach, Valerie Goffigan Boone and Regina Goffigan Williams, both of Suffolk; two sons, John K. Goffigan Jr., Ernest L. Brown, both of Suffolk; four sons-in-law; a daughter-in-law; eight granddaughters; seven grandsons; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded by a daughter, Linda M. Brown. Those who are bound together by the ties of pure love are never separated.
A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Monday in Crocker Funeral Home Chapel, Suffolk. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation starts today from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The remains of Mr. Goffigan rest at the funeral home. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
