JOHN P. WILLIAMS JR.

John Powell Williams Jr. M.D., a native of Richmond and a resident of Mobile, Ala., for 16 years, died Aug. 14, 1996, in a Mobile hospital.

He was a professor of radiology and neurology at USA Medical School. He was a founder and former president of Southeastern Neuro-Radiology Society, a member of several medical societies and a member of A.O.A. Honor Society. He was a graduate of St. Christopher's Episcopal School in Richmond, the University of Virginia at Charlottesville and the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. He was the author and co-author of several radiology, neuro-radiology, neurology texts and other medical texts. He was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Mobile and attended St. Mary's by the Sea Episcopal Church in Coden. He was an accomplished stain glass artist and painter.

Survivors include his wife, Emily Ann Manor Williams; five children, Russell Stephen Williams M.D. and his wife, Sandra of Knoxville, Tenn., John Powell Williams III M.D. and his wife, Beth of Knoxville, Virginia Elizabeth Sykes and her husband, Benjamin of Virginia Beach, Emily Ann Williams Meijer and her husband, Marcel of Atlanta and Benjamin Watkins Leigh Williams of Mobile; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services were held from St. Mary's by the Sea Episcopal Church in Coden on Saturday, Aug. 17, 1996 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wilmer Hall, the USA Medical School Scholarship Fund or St. Mary's by the Sea Episcopal Church.
