Evangelist Martha D. Gilliam, of the 800 block of Goff St., died Aug. 21, 1996, in Sentara Leigh Hospital.
A native of Norfolk, she was a minister and an evangelist. She was the widow of Melvin Wadley. She was a member of Restoration Church of Deliverance and was a missionary, prayer warrior, Sunday school teacher and in charge of the Women's Ministry.
She is survived by a daughter, Sarina Wadley Levy of Chesapeake; three sons, the Rev. Charles Moore of Virginia Beach, Andre Moore of Norfolk; the Rev. Karl Moore of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Nellie Jones and Angenora Gilliam, both of Norfolk; two brothers, Arthur Gilliam of Virginia Beach and Ronney Gilliam of Norfolk; and 10 grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted noon Tuesday by Bishop Joseph Snead in Second Calvary Baptist Church, Norfolk. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Carlos A. Howard Funeral Home is in charge. The remains will be ready for viewing at 3 p.m. Monday. The family will assemble at 6855 Orangewood Drive, Norfolk. The remains will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
