Thelma Plummer Godfrey, 96, longtime resident of the 3100 block of Bray Road in Virginia Beach, died Aug. 23, 1996, in Norfolk.
A native of Norfolk County, she was the daughter of the late Minnie and Charles Plummer and the widow of Walter T. Godfrey Jr. She was a former member of Epworth United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Doris G. Bonney and a son-in-law, Vernon A. Bonney of Virginia Beach; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and two nieces. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Miriam G. Tilley, formerly of Newport News.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. by the Rev. G. Keith Almond in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk. The family will receive friends at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, Virginia Beach on Monday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
