John Brooks Koon, 93, formerly of Barclay Ave., died Aug. 23, 1996, in Chesapeake.
A native of Peake, S.C., he was a widower of Ida Mae Koon. He retired as a pipefitter from Norfolk Naval Shipyard and was a member of Holy Communion Lutheran Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Alva Bowers and Lorraine McGinn, both of Chesapeake, Betty Allen of Farmville, N.C., and Dorothy Robertson of Fallbrook, Calif.; a sister; two brothers; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Holy Communion Lutheran Church by Dr. Dennis D. Buchholz. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel today from 7 to 8 p.m. Contributions may be made to Holy Communion Lutheran Church.
