Evelyn Mansfield Swann, 86, of the 4800 block of Kempsville Parkway, died Aug. 22, 1996, in Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Swann was a school teacher and educator for the City of Norfolk. She was born in Washington, D.C., and was the widow of Alphonzo T. Swann. She was a member of Bank Street Memorial Church, Norfolk. She was the former women's editor of the Journal and Guide Newspaper and former English and journalism teacher at Booker T. Washington High School in Norfolk. She was a graduate of Miners Teacher College and Howard University in Washington, D.C.
Funeral arrangements are pending. Chatman Funeral Home, Norfolk, is in charge.
