Kate Eugene Beamon, 88, of the 1100 block of Midland St., died Aug. 20, 1996, in Norfolk Community Hospital.
Born in Greenville, Ala., she was a homemaker and widow of the late Rev. Martin Luther Beamon and was a member of Hood Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, Norfolk.
Survivors include three daughters, Doris Beamon of Norfolk, Gladys and son-in-law, Eddie Squires of New York City, Olga and son-in-law, Clinton C. Jones II of Oak City, N.C.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Oscar and Paulette Beamon of Norfolk, and Earl and Eleanor Beamon of Wilmington, N.C.; a sister, Selena Smith of Greenville, N.C.; four grandchildren, Earlese Beamon, Betty Beamon, Gwenn Beamon, Clinton Jones; two great-grandchildren, Martin Young, Trice Young; special niece, Donna Smith; and a host of other nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, cousins and a host of other loving relatives and friends; two sisters-in-law, Melverna Green of Greenville, Alabama and Mary Beamon of Sunbury, N.C.
A funeral service will be conducted Monday at noon by the Rev. Cuffee in Hood Chapel AME Zion Church, 611 Rockingham St., Norfolk. Burial will be in Hampton National Cemetery. Metropolitan Funeral Service, Norfolk, is in charge. The body will be placed in the church on Monday at 10 a.m. Family and friends will assemble at 1112 Midland St., Norfolk, on Monday at 11 a.m. for the funeral procession to the church.
