Mrs. Sarah Salene Nowell Vaughan, 78, of Seaview Drive died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 1996, in the Chowan Hospital.
A native of Bertie County, Mrs. Vaughan was a daughter of the late Luther and Beulah Allen Nowell and the wife of the late L. Grady Vaughan. She had retired from the Planters Peanut Company in Aulander.
She is survived by two daughters, Sarah V. Koone of Rutherfordton, N.C., and Frances V. Matchell of Edenton; two sons, Jimmy B. Vaughan of Scotland Neck, N.C., and Jeffery Vaughan of Edenton; eight grandchildren, Suzanne V. Bailey, Katharine Gail Vaughan, David E. Koone, Stephen M. Koone, J. Brent Holt Jr., Charlotte H. Bunch, Matthew W. Vaughan, and Wayne A. Vaughan; three great-grandchildren, Dustin S. Bunch, Daniel H. Mizelle, and Tone Lynn Holt.
Graveside services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday in the Roxobel-Kelford Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Evans Funeral Home in Edenton today from 7 until 8:30 p.m and at other times at the residence.
