``The Bible & the Klan'' (Sunday Break, Aug. 11) was an insightful but unnerving look into the warped rationale of hatred, the new alliance of hate groups and the ignorance and prejudice that enable such evil to flourish. I'm appalled at how the so-called ``Christian Knights'' distort the gospel to their own perverse ends.
As a white Catholic, I am angered that these supremacist hate groups claim to be Christians and represent my interests as vanguards of the white race. Christianity is a religion of love and repentance, not hatred and bigotry.
Nowhere in the Bible is segregation, racial superiority or racial hatred condoned. Nor does the Bible have a racial preference.
The gospel teaches us to despise evil, not people (``hate the sin, love the sinner'').
We cannot hate and be Christians; racism and Christianity are diametrically opposed. However, I am sure Satan is delighted with the efforts of the ``Christian'' Knights, the Aryan Nation and others of their ilk.
