LaVerne Nellie Ives, 53, of the 600 block of Milburne Drive, died Saturday, Aug. 24, 1996, in Norfolk.
A native of Norfolk, she was the cafeteria manager at Kempsville High School. Mrs. Ives was a member of Kempsville Baptist Church and the Virginia Beach School Food Association, of which she had served as president.
Survivors include her husband, Robert T. Ives Sr.; two daughters, Lynn I. Lannon of Chesapeake and Jackie F. Matrona of Ocean City, Md.; a son, Robert T. Ives Jr. of Virginia Beach; her father, Charlie Linwood Pallett Jr. of Chesapeake; her mother and stepfather, Blanche E. Patterson and Thomas J. Patterson of Virginia Beach. Other survivors include two sisters, Maria Roughton of Virginia Beach and Cheryl Cornett of Chesapeake; two brothers, Charlie Linwood Pallett III of Virginia Beach and Thomas R. Pallett of Norfolk; three half brothers, John Cowhig and Dennis James Cowhig, both of Chesapeake, and Doc Pallett of Suffolk, as well as six grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held today at 2 p.m. in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, Virginia Beach, by the Rev. Herbert D. Holton. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
