Artie Bell Kanaday, 87, of the 3100 block of Indian River Road, died Aug. 26, 1996, at her residence.
Born in Gainesville, Ga., she was the widow of Robert D. Kanaday and a member of First Church of the Nazarene, Virginia Beach, for over 55 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Hester K. and her husband, Arthur Cleghorn, of Chesapeake, Dorothy K. and her husband, Joseph Ackaway, of Virginia Beach; nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sudie K. Long.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in First Church of Nazarene, 4413 Wishart Road, Virginia Beach, by the Rev. Jack Smith. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
