ARRESTED NORFOLK MAN IS SUSPECT IN AT LEAST FOUR STORE ROBBERIES

A 22-year-old man was arrested and charged with robbing a convenience store Monday night.

He also was charged with robbing three other stores this month, police said.

Police credit the arrest of Brent Edward Thomas of the 1100 block of Jernigan Ave. to the help of witnesses who gave police a description of the car Thomas was driving after he left the store Monday night.

Police said that just before 9 p.m. the suspect walked into the Tinee Giant store in the 2700 block of East Ocean View Ave., pulled a gun and robbed the clerk. Thomas was arrested at an apartment complex after police received another tip, a spokesman said.

Thomas is charged with the Aug. 8 robberies of the Tinee Giant in the 2500 block of East Little Creek Road, the Tinee Giant in the 100 block of West Ocean View Ave. and the Aug. 17 robbery of the Seven Brothers Food City in the 6800 block of Sewells Point Road.

The spokesman said an investigation is continuing and that Thomas is being considered as a suspect in several other cases. Thomas will appear in court today for an arraignment. by CNB
