WHERE THEY PLAY: Bayside High, 4960 Haygood Road (capacity 5,000).

LAST YEAR'S RECORD: 3-7 overall, 2-7 district.

TOP NEWCOMERS: Brian Cromwell, Sr., WR, 5-9, 165; Kenny Goings, Sr., RB/LB, 5-11, 175; Dan Harris, Sr., FB/DL, 6-2, 235; Craig VanKleeck, Sr., FB/LB, 5-8, 190; Al Scott, Jr., RB/DB, 6-1, 200; John Boyce, So., OL/DL, 6-1, 237; Malachi Hernandez, Sr., TE/DE, 6-4, 215; Corey Davis, Jr., FB, 6-0, 190; Phillip Potts, So., RB, 5-7, 160.

OFFENSIVE OVERVIEW: As usual, the Marlins have a host of talented running backs and all have good speed. Chapman and Vines are battling for the starting quarterback job. DeBerry is the only running back with any varsity experience, but will get help from Wright, Goings, Scott and Davis. Spruill has 4.4 speed in the 40-yard dash and will be a good receiver and place defensive back as well. Cherwa was eighth in South Hampton Roads in kick scoring with 22 points.

DEFENSIVE OVERVIEW: Many of the offensive standouts will likely see time on this side of the line, so conditioning will be a key to the defensive unit. The line features good size.

COACH'S QUOTE: ``We're hoping to improve over last year, but this will be a rebuilding season.''

IT'S A FACT: Bayside is coming off its first losing season since 1985, when the Marlins went 1-9.
