PREVIEW: HIGH SCHOOL FORECASTS: FRANKLIN

FRANKLIN

COACH: Darian Bell (first year)

STAFF MEMBERS: Eric Denton, James Jones, Dave Lease, Mike Carter

WHERE THEY PLAY: Armory Stadium (capacity 3,500), Godwin Boulevard in Franklin

LAST YEAR'S RECORD: 0-10 overall, 0-7 in the Bay Rivers District

RETURNING STARTERS: Lamont Hill, Sr., WB/CB, 5-7, 175; Jody Boyce, Jr., FB/LB, 5-8, 185; Will Harris, Jr., RB/CB, 5-7, 170; Chris Claggett, Sr., OL/DL, 5-11, 235; Jeff Peters, Jr., OL/DL, 6-1, 240; Dishaun Hart, Jr., RB/CB, 5-9, 175; Jason Keech, Jr., OL/DL, 5-11, 225; Diron Newsome, Jr., FB/LB, 6-1, 220; Myroen Barrett, Sr., TE/LB, 6-2, 205.

TOP NEWCOMERS: Xavier Scott, Sr., QB, 6-5, 220; Travis Lane, So., FB/LB, 5-7, 180; Andre Williams, So., OL/DL, 6-0, 240; Antoinio Graham, Jr., WR/S, 6-4, 170.

OFFENSIVE OVERVIEW: The Broncos received a major boost when Scott returned after sitting out his junior year. Bell compares the strong-armed Scott favorably to Hampton star Ronald Curry - with a straight face, no less. ``I'm not the only one who says that, either,'' Bell said. Scott's passing will augment a misdirection-based, double Wing-T attack which will look to confuse opponents.

DEFENSIVE OVERVIEW: Playing out of a 6-2 base, the Broncos will try to pressure opponents with their quickness. Outside linebacker Barrett brings quickness and experience and usually finds himself around the ball.

COACH'S QUOTE: ``Everything is being done differently. The way we come out for games, our exercise routine, the side of the field we stand on. Everything's different except the uniforms, and we may change those next year. It's a whole new attitude.''

IT'S A FACT: Bell comes to the Broncos after playing and coaching at Southampton, the Broncos' biggest rival.
