Mr. David Clayton Rivenbark Sr., 84, a Suffolk resident for four years, died Tuesday Aug. 27, 1996, in Norfolk.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Tommy (Joanne) Willis of Newport News, Mrs. Roger (Jackie) Heins of Virginia Beach; two sons, David Rivenbark and wife, Tillie, of Suffolk, Donald Rivenbark of Greensboro, N.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Bergendahl of Watha, N.C., Mrs. Rebecca Meadows of Tomball, Texas; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Mrs. Edna Thompson Rivenbark.
Born in Wilmington, N.C., Mr. Rivenbark was the son of the late Worth H. and Ruth Rivenbark. Mr. Rivenbark spent most of his childhood in Watha, N.C., and resided in Lexington, N.C., for 45 years before retiring from Bales and Truitt and was a member of North Lexington Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, choir member and Sunday school teacher.
The family will receive at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday Aug. 30, 1996, in Padgett Funeral Home in Wallace, N.C. conducted by the Rev. Robert Earl Thompson, nephew of Mr. Rivenbark. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park. Casketbearers will be Mike Rivenbark, Jerry McLeod, Ted Paisley, John Heins, Tim Adkins and Bill Blomstrom.
The family suggests memorials may be made to the Building Fund of North Lexington Baptist Church, 201 Mize Road, Lexington, N.C. 27295, Alzheimers Association, 20 Koger Center, Suite 233, Norfolk, Va. 23502, Watha Methodist Church, Watha, N.C. 28471 or Watha Baptist Church, Watha, N.C. 28471.
