ROBERT E. MELVIN

Robert E. Melvin, 70, of the 100 block of Green Kemp Road, went to be with his precious Lord. He died Aug. 29, 1996 in Norfolk.

Mr. Melvin was a retired master chief petty officer of the U.S. Navy. Born in Georgia, he was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Virginia Beach.

Survivors include his wife, Geneva E. Melvin; a daughter, Carolyn B. Olah and her husband, Nick, of Chesapeake; his mother, Lorene Melvin of Florida; a sister, Margaret Melvin of Florida; three brothers, Frank Melvin of Arizona, Arthur Melvin of Alabama and Ronnie Melvin of Georgia; three grandchildren, R. David Brock and his wife, Kristi of Portsmouth, and Lisa R. Brock and Ivey Lynn Brock, both of Chesapeake; and dearest friend, Ronald ``Sonny'' Fett.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Tabernacle Baptist Church by Dr. Rod Bell Sr. The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. today and at 1148 Shillelagh Road, Chesapeake, at all other times. Memorial contributions should be made to the Tree of Life Memorial Fund of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
