Mrs. Dorlester``Doe'' Clemons departed this life on Aug. 27, 1996, to go home to be with her lord and savior, Jesus Christ. Mrs. Clemons, of the 2600 block of Harvard Drive, died in Chesapeake General Hospital.
Born in Norfolk Co., she was the widow of Louis Clemons. She retired 10 years ago as a cook for Great Bridge Restaurant after 45 years' service. She was a member of St. Luke AME Church, Chesapeake. She was Sunday School superintendent and member of missionaries, Stewarts, and the senior choir.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Regina Toxey, Mrs. Marva Slayton of Chesapeake; seven sons, Vernell Clemons, Berlyn Clemons, Elvis Clemons of Norfolk, Reginald Clemons of Washington, D.C., Kenneth Clemons of Winston-Salem, N.C., Donnie Clemons of Chesapeake, Byron Clemons of Virginia Beach; three brothers, Reochus Lamb of Chesapeake, Norris Lamb of Hampton, Cornelius Lamb of Chesapeake; 23 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; a special granddaughter, Mrs. Kimberly Brooks of Chesapeake; and a special cousin, DeWayne Moseley of Chesapeake. She was predeceased by her mother, Hattie Moseley Lamb and her father, James Lamb.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. Luke AME Church, Chesapeake, by the Rev. Ira K. McMillan. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Chatman Funeral Home, Norfolk, is handling arrangements.
