Joyce Hoffmann, an assistant professor of English at Old Dominion University, has won a national award for her book on journalist Theodore White.
Hoffmann received the 1995 Frank Luther Mott Kappa Tau Alpha Research Award for her book, ``Theodore H. White and Journalism as Illusion,'' which was published last year.
``Despite - and at the same time because of - White's commitment to honor and justice, his journalism sometimes revealed less than the truth and shaped the world view in which he had come to believe,'' said Karen List, president-elect of Kappa Tau Alpha.
``Hoffmann uses White's career to reflect on the same questions that continue to bedevil journalism today.'' by CNB
