HARRY W. SCHARF

Harry W. Scharf, 79, of the 4700 block of Mallard Crescent, died Aug. 30, 1996.

Born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, he was predeceased by his wife, Rachel Ruth Porter Scharf. Mr. Scharf was a manager of Milford Virginia Plant and retired from Georgia Pacific after 44 years service. He was a member of Bowling Green United Methodist Church, Bowling Green, Va. He was active in the Beasley Seniors Center, Portsmouth, and supportive of Bennetts Creek Rescue Squad.

Survivors include three daughters, Ramona Cook and her husband, Harold, of Elkton, Md., Sally Leary and her husband, Robert Jr., of Portsmouth, Vicki Wolz and her husband, Arthur L. Jr., of Mechanicsville, Va.; a brother, Arthur Scharf of Fort Dodge; eight grandchildren, Lori Bingnear, Jeff Cook, Steven Cook, Gregory Cook, Stephanie Leary, Robbie Leary, Amy Wolz, Trey Wolz; and eleven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Keith Alan Scharf.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, by Chaplin Ron Rice and the Rev. Arthur L. Wolz Jr. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery, Fort Dodge. Family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday.
