Nellie J. Hemsath, 71, of the 200 block of Southern Road, died Friday, Aug. 30, 1996, in her home.
She was a native of Wilson, N.C., and retired as a bookkeeper and administrative assistant from Lake Taylor City Hospital in Norfolk. Mrs. Hemsath was a member of Knotts Island Baptist Church and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
Survivors include her husband, Elmer W. ``Bill'' Hemsath; her daughter and son-in-law, Linda H. Bannon-Orlowski and Thomas W. Orlowski of Knotts Island; a sister, Dottie E. Branch of Medford, N.J.; and two grandchildren, William Cliffton ``Beau'' Moore and Aaron Wayne Pickrell, both of Tampa, Fla.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday by the Rev. Frank T. Jennings in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. Burial will follow in Rosewood Memorial Park, Virginia Beach. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Following the funeral services Tuesday, the family will gather at 648 Tyson Road, Virginia Beach.
