Hampton Roads anxiously awaited the details of baby Jaliyuah Hurt's abandonment on a busy roadside this week. The horror of someone endangering a helpless infant in such a way was inconceivable.
Two days later Jaliyuah's pregnant mother was found slain in Prince George County. The father of her unborn child is charged with her murder.
A triple tragedy? Not according to the laws of the state of Virginia. Feticide, the murder of a fetus, is not a crime in Virginia.
Our government sanctioned disregard for human life with Roe vs. Wade. Our leader, President Clinton, recently vetoed the partial birth abortion ban legislation. And we can't figure out why our country continues to become more and more violent.
Wake up, America! All human life is sacred or no human life is sacred.
