JOSEPH A. STUPKA JR.

Joseph A. Stupka Jr., 68, died in his residence at Lakeland, Fla. on Aug. 30, 1996.

Mr. Stupka was born in Norfolk and resided there and in Virginia Beach until he retired after 41 years of service with the Virginia Natural Gas Co., as supervisor of Gas Meter Repair Operations. He served as president and business manager of Local 980, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), and was chairman, Systems Council and Norfolk Central Labor Council, IBEW. He completed nine years with 29th division, 111th F.A. Branch of Virginia National Guard.

Survivors include his wife, Jean R. Stupka; a son, Joseph A. Stupka III and wife, Judy, of Virginia Beach; two daughters, Trudy S. Garland and husband, Denny, of Virginia Beach; Deborah Crislip of Chesapeake, Va.; four grandchildren, Ashlie and Amanda Stupka, Ryan Garland of Virginia Beach and Phillip Gibson of Chesapeake, Va.

A funeral service will be conducted at Holloman-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Association. The family will be at the home of Joe Stupka III, 4328 Lookout Road (Baylake Pines), Virginia Beach, Va. and will also receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
