JOSEPHINE N. WIGGINS

Mary Josephine ``Jo Nye'' Wiggins, 89, died Aug. 31, 1996, at Southampton Memorial Hospital.

The widow of John B. ``Jack'' Wiggins, she is survived by sons John B. Wiggins Jr. and Joe Nye Wiggins and his wife Pam, and three grandchildren, Joanna Leigh Wiggins, Joe Nye Wiggins Jr. and John Parker Wiggins. Besides her immediate family, she is loved and survived by nine nieces and four nephews and several great-nieces and nephews.

Born Oct. 31, 1906, in Glade Spring, Va., she was the youngest of 11 children of William Byars and Mollie Gibson Nye. She graduated from Richmond Professional Institute (now VCU) in 1929. A former resident of Bristol, Va., she resided in Southampton County and Franklin since 1935.

Mrs. Wiggins was a member and former Sunday School teacher at Sycamore Baptist Church. She was a life member of Zuni Presbyterian Training Center Kuwayes and former member of its board of directors. She loved to play bridge.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Texie Camp Marks Children's Center, 700 Campbell Ave., Franklin, Va. 23851, or to the Zuni Presbyterian Training Center, P.O. Box 54, Zuni, Va. 23898.

The family will receive friends at her residence, Wyndie Crest, 1034 Clay St.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sycamore Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Reginald Warren. Burial will be in the family cemetery at 30149 Smiths Ferry Road. Wright Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
