VERA E. SMITH

Vera Elizabeth Smith, 70, of the 4900 block of Carnation Ave., died Aug. 31, 1996, in her residence.

She was born in Ubstadt, Germany. She was a member of the Optimist Club and was a loyal servant of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, working as secreatary at the rectory and school for many years.

Survivors include her husband, John M. Smith; two daughters, Patricia Ann Fuller of Dallas, Texas, and Robin Pagley of Charlottesville, Va.; four sons, John Marshall Smith Jr. of Norfolk, Walter James Smith of Virginia Beach, Jeffery Edwin Smith of Blacksburg, Va., and Karl Richard Smith of Hollywood, Fla.; two sisters, Hedwig Euteneuer and Gloria Barrett; granddaughter, Jessica Elyse Smith; and six grandsons, Christopher, Matthew, Andrew and Timothy Fuller, Karl Smith and Joseph Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Adele and Emil Neff and her brother, Erwin Neff.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. Family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Memorial donations may be made to St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church School Endowment Fund in her memory.
