Firefighters on Sunday battled an early morning two-alarm fire at Neptune Fisheries Inc.
The call came in at 3:05 a.m.. The first units arrived at the fisheries in the 800 block of Jefferson Ave. at 3:09, according to R.L. Ware Jr., fire marshal for the the Newport News Fire Department. A second alarm was declared at 3:17 a.m.
Firefighters had not identified the origin or cause of the fire by late Sunday. They continued to investigate. Authorities were able to get in and shore up the main freezer area, Ware said.

on Sunday, Newport News firefigters continued to drench the
smoldering ruins of the two-alarm blaze.
