Lillian Collier Garriss, 83, of the 300 block of South Fourth St., died Sept. 2, 1996, in Roanoke Valley Nursing Home, Rich Square, N.C.
Born in Northampton County, N.C., she was the widow of Edward Wilson Garriss. She was a retired school teacher and bookkeeper for the public school system. Mrs. Garriss was a member of Murfreesboro United Methodist Church, Murfreesboro, for more than 50 years. She was church treasurer for many years and a former Girl Scout leader.
Survivors include two sisters, Mamie Collier Vines of Conway, N.C., Eleanor Collier Murphy of North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and a brother, Raymond B. Collier of Murfreesboro.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Murfreesboro United Methodist Church, Murfreesboro, by the Rev. Bill Jeffries. Burial will be in Conway Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the home of Raymond B. Collier, 509 Lakeview Drive, Murfreesboro. Memorial donations may be made to Murfreesboro United Methodist Church, High Street, Murfreesboro, N.C. 27855. Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, is handling arrangements.
