Edith Hunter ``Lucille'' Shope, 73, of the 4500 block of Leeward Drive, followed her angel to heaven on Sept. 2, 1996.
Born in Sanford, N.C., she was a member of Alexander Baptist Church, Portsmouth. She was a loving wife, homemaker and wonderful mother.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Wiley ``Roger'' Shope Sr.; a son and his wife, Roger and Barbara Shope of Denver; a daughter and her husband, Theresa and Crit Caudill of Chesapeake; and three grandsons.
Services are pending for 2 p.m. Thursday in Alexander Baptist Church by Dr. Roscoe Musselwhite and the Rev. John Burr, with burial in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Loving Funeral Home, Churchland. Memorial contributions may be made to Alexander Baptist Church.
