HAZEL B. CORBITT

Mrs. Hazel Blythe Corbitt, 79, passed away in her home Saturday Aug. 31, 1996, and is now with her Lord. She was a native of Southampton County, Va., and had been a Newport News resident for the past 55 years.

Mrs. Corbitt was a charter member of West Hampton Baptist Church and was active with her Sunday School class. She was a faithful Christian who enjoyed being in church. She cared for people and loved spending time with her family and Christian friends. She enjoyed reading the Bible and other Christian literature.

She was predeceased by her husband, James W. Corbitt and a daughter, Verlinda C. Berrey. She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn C. Turlington of Tabb, Va; a son, James W. Corbitt Jr. of Chesapeake; four granddaughters, Darlene Turlington of Newport News, Denise Quigley of Newport News, Donna Lane of Seaford, Emily Corbitt of Chesapeake; two grandsons, Michael Berrey of Newport News, Ryan Corbitt of Chesapeake; a great-grandson, Brendan Lane of Seaford; her twin brother, Howard Blythe of Franklin; and her sister, Bessie Carr, also of Franklin.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in West Hampton Baptist Church with burial in Peninsula Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Peninsula Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m today.
