REBECCA P. BATTEN

Rebecca Price Batten, 77, formerly of the 1100 block of Commerce St., died Sept. 3, 1996, in Norfolk.

Born in Selma, N.C., she was the widow of James Willard Batten. She was a member of South Norfolk Baptist Church, Ruth Bible Class and the Chesapeake First Senior Citizens Club.

Survivors include four sons, Tommy Batten, Jimmy Batten, Gene Batten, Jeff Batten, all of Chesapeake; five sisters, Admah Hudson of Smithfield, N.C., Margery Robbins of Orange Park, Fla., Esther Jones, Ruth Shirley, Rachel Westbrook, all of Selma; three stepsisters, Annie Collier of Chapel Hill, N.C., Mildred Jenkins, Ruth Price, both of Durham, N.C.; three stepbrothers, Cecil Pittman of Opp, Ala., Bobby Pittman of Durham, N.C., Mack Pittman of Kinston, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Ettie Lamm and Josephine Helms; her two brother, Manoah Price, Joseph Price; her three stepbrothers, Joseph Pittman, Billy Pittman and James Pittman.

A funeral will be conducted at 2:30 Thursday in Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. Roger Mardis and the Rev. Frank Hughes Jr. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. today and at 2602 Border Road, Chesapeake, at all other times.
