George A. Hunt Sr., 79, of the 2400 block of Richmond Ave., died Sept. 2, 1996, in Maryview Hospital.
He was a retired civil service employee of Norfolk Naval Air Rework Facility. He was a member of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, Portsmouth. He was a 40-year member of the Trustee Board and he was a former church treasurer. He was a member of Mount Gilead Lodge (NU)102, Order of Masons. He was also a retired carpenter.
Survivors include his wife, Martha L. Hunt; two daughters, Dorothy H. Dupree, Denise H. McClure, both of Portsmouth; a son, George A. Hunt Jr. of Portsmouth; a sister, Bessie Manning of Portsmouth; four brothers, Rudolph Hunt of Portsmouth, John Hunt of Miami, Fla., William Hunt of Hackensack, N.J., James Hunt of Patterson, N.J.; five grandchildren, Mark Wiley, Yolanda McKnight, Kristi Hunt, Jasmine McClure, Jonathan McClure; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Curtis E. Edmonds. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday in Corprew Funeral Home, where the family will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today. The body will be taken to the church at noon Friday. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
