BODY WASHES ASHORE

The body of a New York visitor washed up Tuesday morning at the Oceanfront near 64th Street, police said.

Youlando L. Boatswain, 20, was last seen struggling in the rough surf Sunday evening near 26th Street.

As rescue workers searched for Boatswain, his companions told police they last saw him drifting away from shore. Boatswain was vacationing with friends and family members.

Because of the rough water conditions caused by Hurricane Edouard, the beach was closed for swimming when Boatswain disappeared.
