Edith Hunter ``Lucille'' Shope, 73, of the 4500 block of Leeward Drive, followed her angel to heaven on Sept. 2, 1996.
Born in Sanford, N.C., she was a member of Alexander Baptist Church, Portsmouth. She was a loving wife, homemaker and wonderful mother.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Wiley ``Roger'' Shope Sr.; a son and his wife, Roger and Barbara Shope of Denver; a daughter and her husband, Theresa and Crit Caudill of Chesapeake; and three grandsons.
Services are will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Alexander Baptist Church by Dr. Roscoe Musselwhite and the Rev. John Burr, with interment in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Loving Funeral Home, Churchland, is in charge. Memorial contributions may be made to Alexander Baptist Church.
