GERALDINE PAULEY

Geraldine ``Jerry'' Pauley, 62, of the 1000 block of Mediterranean Ave., died Sunday, Sept. 1, 1996, in Virginia Beach General Hospital.

Ms. Pauley was born in Farmville, Va., and was a graduate of Greenbrier Junior College in Lewisburg, W.Va. She was a graduate of Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va., where she was a member of Fourth Estate, Women's Journalism Honorary and Delta Zeta Sorority.

Ms. Pauley taught school for 23 years. She had taught in Kanawha, Logan, and Putnam counties in West Virginia, Trotwood, Ohio, and Chesapeake. She was a former chairperson for the English Department at Trotwood Junior High School in Ohio.

Ms. Pauley had resided in Virginia Beach for 26 years, and was employed at the Bali Hai and Marjac Hotels from 1978-1981, and was a reservationist/sales secretary at Howard Johnson Oceanfront from 1981-1990.

She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Charlotta Humphries Pauley; a sister, Charlotte Ann Pauley of Virginia Beach; three aunts, Mrs. Margaret D. Bruce, Mrs. Zaida T. Humphries, Ms. Ruth Pauley; an uncle, Dr. John Edward Echols and other relatives. She was predeceased by her father, E. Franklin Pauley of Charleston, W.Va., her aunt, Mrs. Virginia Echols, and her uncle, Dr. M.K. Humphries Jr.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 7, at 2 p.m. in the Maestas Funeral Home, Baltic Ave. Chapel. The Rev. William J. Kiser-Lowrance will conduct the service. A private burial will be at Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston, W.Va. Memorial donations may be made to the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 945, Virginia Beach, 23451-0945.
