Wesley Pembroke Nooney, 70, died Sept. 2, 1996, at the VA Medical Center, Hampton.
Mr. Nooney was born in Norfolk and was the son of the late Joseph E. and Mary Norman Nooney. Mr. Nooney was an Army veteran of World War II and had retired as a woodyard superintendent for Continental Can, Augusta, Ga. He as a graduate of N.C. State University and was a Methodist.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan N. Newton of Green Belt, Md., and Nanci N. Drake of Franklin; two sons, Patrick R. Nooney of Charlotte, N.C., and David Wesley Nooney of Cartersville, Ga.; three sisters, Mary Ann Hopkins of Edenton, N.C., Anita N. Sawyer of Plymouth, N.C., and Flossie N. Davenport of Willow Springs, N.C.; two brothers, Ronald Nooney of Williamston, N.C. and Bobby Nooney of New Bern, N.C.; three grandchildren, Steven and Michael Drake and Dylan Nooney.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the VA Medical Center. Interment will be at the Hampton National Cemetery. The family suggests that memorials be made to VA Medical Center Library, Hampton, Va. 23667. Wright Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
