CORDIE CONNER

Cordie Conner, 76, of the 2000 block of Marshall Ave., died Sept. 4, 1996, in Sentara Bayside Hospital.

He was born in Surry County, Va. After 22 years of service, he retired as an aircraft mechanic for civil service 20 years ago. He was a member of Prince Halls Masons, Inc., and Rising Sun Lodge (NU)2. Mr. Conner was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel M. Conner of Virginia Beach; a daughter, Barbara J. Conner of Virginia Beach; a son, Clarence Claiborne of Baltimore, Md.; two brothers, Finley Robinson of Wakefield, Va., Harold Logan of Norfolk; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; an aunt, Carrie Gay of Wakefield; a sister-in-law, Pearl Robinson of Wakefield.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in Queen Street Baptist Church by the Rev. Peter Wherry. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the church only. The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at 2222 Marshall Ave., Norfolk, where they will assemble at 12:15 p.m. Monday for the processional to the church.
