Ruby Lee Salamon, 69, of the 1300 block of Independence Blvd. followed her angel to heaven Sept. 6, 1996, in a Norfolk hospital.
She was a native of Pensacola Fla., and was a devoted and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. Together with her husband, Joe, they raised two fine sons, Tommy and Ronnie, and were proud to see them both married and have families of their own.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Joe Salamon; two sons, Tommy and his wife, Jeanette, and Ronnie and his wife, Linda, all of Virginia Beach; a brother, JC Austin of Pensacola; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Joseph (JT), Nikki and Donnie, all of Virginia Beach; and many nieces and nephews.
She was a member of St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Virginia Beach, and a long time supporter of the Maryknoll Fathers/Brothers. She had a kind heart and generous spirit and will be deeply missed by all.
A Christian wake will be held at 7 p.m. Mondayat Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel. A joyful Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 2 p.m. Tuesday in St. Gregory's Catholic church by Father Phillip Ghys, O.S.B.
