HELEN E. DOZIER

Helen E. Dozier, 75, of the 1900 block of Laigh Road died September 4, 1996, in Maryview Hospital.

She was born in Norfolk County and was the widow of Earl Dozier. For more than 50 years she was a member of New First Baptist Church Taylorsville, where she was a member of the Trustee Board and the 5W Club.

She is survived by a daughter, Frances D. Williams of Chesapeake; four sisters, Ruby Jenkins, Gracie Elliott and Marion Winfied, all of Portsmouth, and Carrie Clarke of Brooklyn N.Y.; three brothers, John L. Elliott of Suffolk, England, Wilbert Elliott of Bremerton, Wash., and Roland Elliott of Chesapeake; three grandchildren, Steven Williams and his wife, Cynthia, of Jacksonville, Fla., Pamela Cherry of Chesapeake, Angela W. Smith and her husband, Raiford, of Portsmouth; four great-grandchildren, Reggie, Vernon and Corey Cherry of Chesapeake, Thomas Elam of Florida; an uncle, George Delbridge; 20 nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins, in-laws and friends.

A funeral will be conducted noon Monday at New First Baptist Church Taylorsville by Dr. T. Melvin Steele. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at noon today. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Monday. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
