I enjoyed your Sept. 2 article, ``Vitamin E appeals to health-conscious consumers'' (Daily Break).
However, you missed a good source of vitamin E that's readily available and is produced right here in Hampton Roads: peanuts. A one-ounce serving of peanuts contains 23 percent of the RDA of vitamin E. A handful of peanuts or a peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwich every day is a good source of vitamin E as well as B vitamins, fiber and protein.
In addition, there is evidence that the mono- and polyunsaturated fats in peanuts are effective in reducing heart disease.
