In regard to your Sept. 3 letter, ``Wrong: U.S. schools are not getting better,'' I can't speak for all U.S. schools. However, there is a school right here in Virginia Beach that anyone who is down on public education should visit.
When you walk into this school you get a feeling of excitement, contentment, enthusiasm, fun and pride. The entrance to the school reminds you of a park, with students, teachers and administrators engaged in lively conversation. There is a closeness and caring for each other.
The teachers at this school are all handpicked, by what I feel must be one of the most caring, concerned and motivated principals I've ever encountered. These teachers truly love and care about children.
The students come ready to learn, ready to be with friends, ready to get involved in the many extracurricular activities. These kids are fun, intelligent, hardworking and highly motivated. They are proud of their school and themselves.
I dare anyone to walk into Tallwood High School and not be filled with a sense of well-being for our future. Our future is in Tallwood High, alive and well.
I feel a sense of pride that my children are a part of this.
