FLORENCE R. DAVIS

Florence Ruth Davis, 80, died Sept. 8, 1996, in the home of her daughter Florence Witt.

Mrs. Davis was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Jan. 23, 1916. She was a member of the Metropolitan Synagogue of New York City; a contributing member of the American Defamation League; the Southern Poverty Law Center; the Mildred Davis League; the Simon Wiesenthal Center; and the World Jewish Congress. She was an avid supporter of the Jewish Museum; the Holocaust Museum of Washington and New York; and the National Women in the Arts Museum.

She was the loving companion and wife of Dr. Jerome G. Davis with whom she worked as nurse and office manager for 36 years.

Surviving are her loving daughters, Mary Lou Tazewell and her husband, E. Bradford Tazewell Jr. of Virginia Beach and Florence Witt and her husband, Dr. Frederick J. Witt of Chesapeake; five grandchildren, Nancy (McTague) Stock and husband, Robert of Weston, Conn., Dr. Suzanne (McTague) Everhart and husband, Jeffrey of Richmond, Lisa (Witt) Scott and her husband, Dr. Jeffrey Scott of Bradenton, Fla., David McTague and wife, Lynne, of Scarsdale, N.Y. and Daniel J. Witt of Nags Head, N.C.; five great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Rebecca Stock, Stephen and Dana Scott, and Reilly Davis McTague.

A memorial service will be conducted on Sunday, Sept. 15, at the home of her granddaughter, Nancy Stock in Weston, Conn. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to New York Hospital, Cornell Medical Center.
